Shubh Diwali, my Hindu-Sikh-Jain friends, a little belated. Diwali or Deepavali was celebrated Sunday, November 3,2013. It's the five-day festival of lights, ending with Bhai Dooj on November 5. I have a Sikh friend who has explained some of the festival to me. So I thought, being the free printable crafts lady, you'd like rangoli printables. These would make pretty tattoo stencils, too. If you're not into permanent ink, let kids trace patterns on their arms with washable markers. Ash Wednesday approaches for Christians. In 2009, Ash Wednesday falls later in the year than usual, on February 25 (my dad's birthday- Happy Birthday, Dad!) Easter falls on April 12. Here's a great craft to bring us into spiritual focus for Ash Wednesday and the lenten season. Make a cross candle holder to commemorate the seven weeks of lent. It's like an advent wreath for lent! Use the trunk from your Christmas to connect Christmas and Easter. Children will process the tie-in between Easter and Christmas much better with this craft.
